Holy Week & Easter

Holy Week & Easter

Much more even than Christmas, Holy Week and Easter represent the pivotal moment in the Church's year. In and through our worship, we celebrate the saving and transforming story of Christ's death and resurrection. It is a time for all who are committed members of the Church to devote extra time to worship.

Do join us therefore for us much of the Holy Week journey as you can. In Holy Week we can walk with Jesus the Way of the Cross so as to be ready to share in the joy of Eastertide. The worship of Holy Week is moving, engaging, challenging and deeply fulfilling. It isn't just for a few - all can draw richly from it. So join us again if you have shared in Holy Week Worship in previous years and give it a go if you haven't. You won't regret it.

We come to meditate on a story with which we are very familiar - maybe even over-familiar. So what we will try to do is to look at Good Friday through the lens of seven very familiar Fairy Stories, and see if they can refresh our understanding. The stories will be: -

Cinderella - a Tale of Transformation
Goldilocks - a Tale of Consequences
Jack and the Beanstalk - a Tale of Unreality
Red Riding Hood - a Tale of Vengeance
Snow White - a Tale of Self-deception
Three Little Pigs - a Tale of Choices
Rapunzel - a Tale of Triumph over Tragedy

I hope they will bring new insights to help us enter into the Good Friday story together.

In the times to reflect on what has been said, Roger Judd will play Passiontide music by Sigfrid Karg-Elert and Max Reger.
